  • Crystal Cove State Park, located in Laguna Beach, has 3.2 miles of beach and 2,400 acres of undeveloped woodland.  It is a popular destination in Southern California for hiking and horseback riding. The offshore waters are designated as an underwater park. Crystal Cove is used by mountain bikers inland and scuba and skin divers underwater. The beach contains tidepools and sandy coves which can be explored by visitors.

  • In the Cascade Mountains in Oregon, the Rogue River flows through the mountains and eventually to the Pacific Ocean.  Here the river pass through a narrow canyon with steep walls.  It is at the beginning of winter with snow filled trees. Each year the Cascade Mountains receive a lot of snow.  Crater Lake which is not too far away averages 533 inches (44 feet) of snow a year.

  • The Pacific Coast Highway closely follows the coast in central California.  The coast contains many amazing cliffs and coves.  The Bixby Bridge is in the distance.  It was completed in 1932 and is a marvel of engineering. The bridge spans across a large canyon along the Big Sur Coastline, about 18 miles south of Carmel.

  • Multnomah Falls is a waterfall on the Oregon side of the Columbia River Gorge. The falls drops in two major steps, split into an upper falls of 542 feet (165 m) and a lower falls of 69 feet (21 m). The total height of the waterfall is 620 feet (189 m) making it the tallest waterfall in the State of Oregon.

  • South Lake is a popluar destination on the eastern side of the Sierra Nevada mountains near Bishop, California in Inyo County.  The lake attracts people for its nearby hiking trails and its fishing...This is an infrared image which captures light that we cannot see and turns it into a visible image. Plants like flowers and grass reflect more infrared light and appear brighter in infrared images while the sky reflects less making it darker.

  • South Lake is a popluar destination on the eastern side of the Sierra Nevada mountains near Bishop, California in Inyo County. The color picture is used to colorize the infrared image giving a foreign and new perspective.  Plants and trees reflect more infrared light and appear brighter in images while the sky reflects less making it darker.

  • High in the eastern side of the Sierra Nevada mountains near North Lake in Inyo County California is a hiking trail that leads to Grass Lake and then on a steep climb (pictured) up to Lower and Upper Lamarck Lakes above the tree line. It is a good hike that leads to amazing views and an area that is very peaceful and beautiful.

  • McWay Falls is in Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park in Monterey County, California near the town of Big Sur on the state's Central Coast. McWay Creek drops 80 ft. off a cliff onto the beach in an small cove along the Pacific Ocean. A trail in the park leads to an overlook where the cove and waterfall can be seen from above.   Access to the cove is restricted due to environmental concerns about the crumbly cliffs.  This stunning waterfall is well know for as it makes one feel like they have reached a beach in paradise with a waterfall gracefully dropping to the beach below.
