  • Mount Ashland located in southern Oregon and is the highest peak in the iskiyou Mountains. The mountain is part of the Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest, which encompasses most of the Siskiyou Mountains. The Oregon-California border is three miles (5 km) south of the mountain and the Pacific Crest Trail trails the south side of the mountain.  On top of the mountain sits a Doppler Radar Dome for Meteorological Observations.

Pilot Rock provides  a look at the inside of a volcano. Over time, the exterior volcano eroded away, leaving behind the now cooled magma of the ancient volcano's central vent. Fossil sites in the vicinity of Pilot Rock contain leaf impressions and conifer cones that became embedded in volcanic ash beds.
